  • Dan Korobkin, Legal Director of the ACLU of Michigan, “How Recent Supreme Court Decisions Have Eroded the Separation Between Church and State.”

Introduction
In this session,  Michigan ACLU Legal Director, Dan Korobkin, will review how recent Supreme Court decisions and other legal developments have eroded the separation of church and state, and why that’s dangerous to all of us.

  • Rabbi Jeffrey Falick, Rabbi of the Congregation for Humanistic Judaism: - “Establishment or Free Exercise? How Christian Nationalists Have Broken Through the Wall of Separation”

Rabbi Falick will explore how Christian nationalist groups like “the Watchmen” have dismantled Jefferson’s “Wall of Separation” by constructing a Supreme Court more concerned with issues of 17th-century England than the challenges of religiously pluralistic 21st-century America. As both a Jew and a secular humanist, he will look at how this has worked to promote conservative Christianity at the expense of religious liberalism, religious minorities, and non-believers.
