Justin is a 4th generation Detroiter and environmental justice organizer for the Sierra Club. He fights for clean air, clean and affordable water and a just economy for all communities. This has included advocating for city ordinances that protect drinking water, securing funds for communities in need of air filtration systems from Michigan’s only oil refinery, and building  diverse coalitions in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. He currently serves as the youngest member of the Inaugural Michigan Advisory Council on Environmental Justice under the direction of Governor Gretchen Whitmer and currently sits as an appointee to the DNC’s Environment and Climate Crisis Council. He has published opinion pieces for The New York Times, The Hill, The Guardian and The Detroit News on environmental justice and on a variety of other social justice topics.
